Erik Pyper started in door-to-door in 2005 installing satellite dishes. Nearly two decades later, after building a satellite business, nearly losing it all during COVID, and grinding through a corporate sales job, he founded Door Driven, a fiber sales organization that now has more than 100 reps on the roster.
In this episode, Erik breaks down how he and two other reps sold 200 accounts in their first month, why he was the biggest bottleneck to his own growth, and why he believes scaling is a personnel problem, not a money problem. He also shares his approach to keeping reps around: lead them in a way that serves them, not you.
In this episode:
Getting started in D2D satellite installs and learning to self-gen
Losing a 14-year business when COVID hit
Launching Door Driven with a $40K first month
Why you have to “uproot the plant” to keep growing
How Erik thinks about rep retention and loyalty
The one daily metric he checks (hint: it’s not sales)
What’s next: a free digital business card app
